Joan Didion Is The Face of Celine's 2015 Spring Ad Campaign

The legendary 80-year-old American scriptwriter and novelist Joan Didion has been unveiled to be the face of Celine's new Spring/Summer 2015 campaign.

Photographed by Juergen Teller, the campaign features Didion in a classically chic black dress, oversized sunglasses and necklace.

Didion began her career working in Vogue and is famed for her writings on American culture and morals.  She has been a style icon for many years: from the original ‘cool girl’ in the seventies to today’s internet queen. Such recent internet fashion favorites include the effortlessly gorgeous images  of her pausing mid-smoke or looking elegantly distracted whilst leaning out from a car window.

Celine is the definition of modern yet sophisticated French dressing, the fashion house which under the helm of Phoebe Philo has been renowned for timeless and effortless creations, and Didion is the ideal ambassador.  As well as Didion, Celine has also cast French ballet dancer Marie-Agnès Gillot and British model Freya Lawrence to star alongside.

Yet Celine is not the only fashion label that features elderly models in their ads. Dolce and Gabbana’s Spring 2015 campaign made headlines in December for feauting three stylish older ladies and Karen Walker’s new eyewear designs were modelled on women aged between 65 and 92.
