How To Eat Your Way To Beautiful Skin

Perfumes, body mists and ointments are great and smell lovely, but the truly best way to have awesome skin is from the inside out. By this I mean by eating a healthy, skin-friendly diet.

Water works

Drinking plenty of water throughout the day keeps your skin hydrated, resulting in it looking clear, bright and less tired. Aim for about 2 litres of water a day to keep your levels topped up and try to stay away from fizzy drinks, as these are high in sugar and are bad for your liver.

Keep fruity fresh

I would recommend eating at least five portions of fresh fruit and vegetables each day, as this will extremely benefit your health, including your skin. Superfoods such as lemons, broccoli, spinach and garlic go beyond the standard vitamin dose and help fight disease, as well as, they are full of antioxidants that cleanse your skin from the inside.

Choc-attack

Great news! Expert scientists can’t find any evidence in linking chocolate with bad skin, in fact dark chocolate is full of vitamins and antioxidants. So indulging in the occasional choc-attack won’t worsen your skin.

A suggestion for a perfect daily meal plan

Breakfast: Possibly the most important, and my favorite meal of the day is breakfast. A glass of fresh juice, with wholegrain cereal with sliced banana and milk, or toast and honey with a fruit salad sounds great.

Lunch: Go light, with a sandwich (perhaps cheese or ham) on wholemeal bread with a crisp salad followed by a yogurt or apple.

Dinner: Make protein be the star of your dinner, salmon or grilled chicken with a baked potato complete with some veggies is delicious. Fruit, nuts or yogurt is refreshing for dessert.

Snacks: Don’t go hungry, snacks such as sugar-snap peas, nuts, crackers, fruit and toast are far more healthy than crisps or sweets.
